Engine room design must be done not only with engineering calculations but with operational requirements such as maintenance ease, fire safety and emergency access in mind.
Main Equipment Layout
Main engine, generators, auxiliary machines and piping are positioned in accordance with IMO and SOLAS requirements. A minimum 600 mm service corridor between equipment is standard. Each piece of equipment is positioned within the crane coverage radius required for dismantling and maintenance.
Fire Safety
The engine room is enclosed with an A-60 fire boundary, and CO₂ and water mist suppression systems are designed with dual assurance. All fuel pipes are double-walled as a precaution against leak risk.
Noise and Vibration Isolation
Using anti-vibration mounts, flexible connections and acoustic lining materials, noise transmitted to the structure is kept below 65 dB(A). Structural noise carried to living spaces is reduced to the 45 dB(A) limit.
