Surface preparation and paint coating are critical processes that directly affect the lifetime of a vessel. A comprehensive assessment of procedures applied within NACE standards.
NACE (National Association of Corrosion Engineers) standards form the primary reference for surface preparation and coating processes in the maritime industry. CMS AS not only meets but exceeds these standards.
SA 2.5 Standard Blasting
Preparing steel surfaces by blasting to SA 2.5 level guarantees excellent adhesion of the paint to the surface. The steel grit size and pressure used are determined according to NACE SP0178 standard.
Multi-Layer Coating System
In multi-layer systems applied as primer, intermediate coat and topcoat, total dry film thickness (DFT) is measured at each stage. Antifouling coatings for underwater areas are applied with special formulations.
Swelling tests, adhesion tests and thickness measurements are documented for each batch, creating quality records. These records are presented to the customer at handover.
